Sorrento, Pompeii and Rome

sunny 25 °C

THURSDAY, June 3 - Day 13

Off to Rome via Pompeii- the city frozen in time with the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Amazing. And some other little know amazing things about the place…..32 million people visit each year and pay $15 Euro each ……CASH….no credit cards or debt cards. Limited parking, limited bathroom facilities (2 holes @ .50 E each), no handicapped facilities. It was very hot there and we were very glad that we had our tour as soon as gates opened at 8:30. Tour groups seem to be scheduled about every 2 minutes….very congested. The last photo is some hieroglyphics (sp) in the brothel house that was uncovered...interesting stuff!

Naples is still very much like the godfather’s time……..if you know what I mean…still lots of hand shaking going on!

Stopped into a WWII Cemetery on way on Rome, very, very sad….it was the Commonwealth Cemetery and there were lots of Canadian boys resting there…….and I mean boys…19 - 25. Reality check!!

In Rome at Sheraton Roma at moment, off to train tomorrow to get to Cinque Terre. Don't know where this is...well, google it!! Catch you later, my friends and family!

Arrivederci
